Greeting
Yutaka HATA
Vice President and Director of Institute for Innovation and Social Value Creation
As of April 1, 2024, we have merged “Institute for Research Promotion and Collaboration” and “Institute for Creative Cities and Regions” and established “Institute for Innovation and Social Value Creation”. As its name suggests, “Institute for Research Promotion and Collaboration” has played a role as an organization that promotes industry-academia collaboration and research. On the other hand, “Institute for Creative Cities and Regions” has mainly worked in collaboration with prefectures and municipalities. “Institute for Research Promotion and Collaboration” has been reborn to become an organization that creates social value through collaboration between industry, academia, and prefectural and municipal governments from the perspective that responding to today’s complex and uncertain society requires the selection and integration of a wide variety of knowledge, skills, and human resources that go beyond the attributes of academic fields and organizations.
As for our activities, we will be collaborating more actively with local businesses than ever before, and we will also achieve our goals by implementing policies with the government. Currently, we have launched the “Harima New Industry Creation Ecosystem” as an organization to create new industries in the Harima region, and we are beginning its activities.
We hope that everyone will take full advantage of the present institute and work together to create new social value since many of the current competitive funds and publicly solicited projects assume the division of roles and collaboration with organizations outside the university with an eye toward social implementation.
This is my fourth fiscal year as director. This fiscal year’s new activities are as follows. 1. Our university’s “Shin-Nagata Branch” will be established near JR Shin-Nagata Station. The approximately 1,200 square meter floor will serve as a base for university startups and reskilling, so please come and use it. 2. As Japan moves towards achieving carbon neutrality, Hydrogen Energy Joint Research Center will play a central role in invigorating activities involving Hyogo Prefecture and companies to utilize hydrogen, which is the key to achieving carbon neutrality in 2050. 3. Centered around the Faculty of Engineering and the Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, we will carry out research and development of next-generation semiconductors, involving the government and companies.
This fiscal year, the organization’s website has been completely redesigned. We would like to make the current state of our university visible and develop our activities as a new organization that will be useful to everyone, so we look forward to your continued patronage, guidance, and support.
Thank you for your understanding.
