Vice President and Director of Institute for Innovation and Social Value Creation

As of April 1, 2023 at the beginning of last fiscal year, our institute (Previous name of Institute for Research Promotion and Collaboration) has started under the new organization system by the new president, Professor Makoto Kosaka, and the new president, Mr. Soichiro Kunii. I am also in my third year as director of our institute. The following are new activities from last fiscal year.

1. We have established an Innovation Salon at Advanced Medical Engineering Research Institute at Hyogo Prefectural Harima-Himeji General Medical Center. In Salon, we provide a place/opportunity to exchange mutual opinions among nurses, doctors, and other peoples in clinical practice. Last year, we worked with two member companies to launch new businesses primarily in the nursing field. We would like to expand the activities in fiscal year of 2023 as well.

2. As Japan moves towards achieving carbon neutrality, we are increasing the activities of the Hydrogen Energy Joint Research Center. The center will collaborate with Hyogo Prefecture and companies to utilize hydrogen, which is the key to achieving carbon neutrality in 2050.

As for the acquisition of external funds, the base amount to date has been 2 billion JPY. This fiscal year, we aim to increase this amount by 10%, so we would appreciate your continued support.

At the beginning of this fiscal year around May, 2023, COVID-19 has almost been diminished. Most of our activities are returning back to face-to-face modes. However, we also carry out activities by utilizing online mode to increase efficiency.

Our Institute

Institute for Research Promotion and Collaboration was established on April 1, 2011, to connect University of Hyogo with local industries, and to promote research cooperation. The institute has been renamed from “Institute for Research Promotion and Collaborationto” to “Institute for Innovation and Social Value Creation” as of April 1, 2024.
